Simulation of two-phase flow by injecting water and surfactant into porous media containing oil and investigation of trapped oil areas

Abstract Nowadays, as the oil reservoirs reaching their half-life, using enhanced recovery methods is more necessary and common. Simulations are synthetic process of real systems. In this study, simulation water surfactant injection into a porous media containing (two-phase) was performed computational fluid dynamics method on image micro-model. Also, selected anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate, which effective in sand reservoirs. The effect depends its concentration. This dependence concentration compounds referred to critical micelle (CMC). an (inlet boundary) 1000 ppm considered less than CMC point (2365 ppm). range concentrations after 4.5 ms increased factor by 2.21%. Surfactant results showed wettability alteration IFT finally increases comparison with injection. wide channels, saturation front, narrow front has great main flowing.
